Marc Whitman
Architectural Consultant
With a keen sense of beauty, Marc is an artist who just happens to be an architect. As such, he strives to create homes that aren't just living spaces, but also enduring works of art. Driven by his philosophy that nature and architecture go hand in hand, Marc’s renowned organic architectural style integrates free flowing architecture harmoniously with its natural surroundings. This union, he believes, is the ultimate marriage of heart and mind.
Unique to Marc is his ability to envision a project in 3 dimensions. Passionate about the creating and ideating process of each one, He first sketches out his ideas for what a project can become. Together with his clients he sculpts and evolves those initial designs into beautiful and meaningful works of art.
Marc has blessed his hometown of Ojai and the neighboring communities of Ventura and Santa Barbara with his talents for over 30 years. His Impressive collection of residential and commercial projects spread throughout the West Coast and include several celebrity homes. These noteworthy buildings include Ventura’s Watermark restaurant, the Ojai Design Center, the Ojai Presbyterian Church restoration, the Ojai Valley Paseo, and the Blue and Emerald Iguana Inns, which Marc and his wife Julia own.
Doran Taylor
Design Consultant
As an award-winning interior designer, Doran has a unique approach to design. With the belief that interior design needs to be harmonious with the original concepts, Doran involves himself with projects from their conception. Working directly with architects, he helps to establish the aesthetic that meets his client’s needs, is in good taste, and will lead to a beautiful shelf to furnish. Above all, Doran always strives to create an enduring exterior and interior design that clearly reflects the personalities of his clients making it obvious that their home belongs to them.
Doran draws inspiration from art, architecture, and furnishings from all centuries that reap superior design principles. His appreciation for quality craftsmanship, nice materials, and good scale and proportions are glaringly evident in his work. Meticulous from start to finish, Doran’s's thoughtful designs leave each space complete and polished to their fullest potential. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Doran has clients all over the east and west coast, Hawaii, and Mexico. He has designed for many high profile individuals and projects in Utah including the governor's mansion. Outside of residential homes, Doran has been involved in the designing of both the exterior and interior architecture of large commercial spaces, a hotels, Law Firms, and even a yacht.
Lewis Engineering
Civil Engineering Consultant
Jane Montague and team lead a consulting civil engineering firm founded in 1974. Lewis Engineering’s founder, George Lewis, was a specialist in Municipal Engineering. He brought his experience as Assistant City Engineer of the City of San Buenaventura to the firm. George retired from Lewis Engineering in 1992.
Their design philosophy is based on design simplicity. They benefit from their relationships with contractors, adhering to the principle that ground level knowledge of the building process will result in efficient design and cost-effective construction.
The firm’s experience includes many areas of engineering and public works in both the public and private sectors. Their clients include public agencies, developers, architects, and landowners.
Their services include: Grading and drainage design, road & driveway design, sanitary sewer design, storm drain design, commercial, residential, & mixed `Use, planning & permitting, retaining walls, Street Improvements.
